Virtual Tour – Time Travel in York – Wednesday 24 February at 11.00 am

Walking Through the Centuries : Time Travel in York

George VI  said that the History of York is the History of England. We will join Sarah Cowling to put that theory to the test,  time travelling  through 2000 years, from the Roman fort of Eboracum, via the Vikings, through winding medieval streets clustered around the mighty Minster. We will see the homes and playgrounds of elegant Georgians, and the legacy of Victorian Ingenuity and industry. York is one of England’s most beautiful cities.  Come and uncover the many layers that make up its fascinating history.

Sarah Cowling is a Blue Badge Tourist Guide for London and Yorkshire, who returned to her native county 6 years ago having spent 30 years in London.   Now she is happily ensconced right in the historic core of York and revels in being part of this medieval wonderland.  She loves sharing secret and certainly-not-secret corners with visitors from all over the world as well as close to home. Members may like to know that Sarah developed her skills in her former career as Customer Services and Training Manager at Harrods.

There is no need to book for this virtual tour, which will take place via Zoom. A link will be sent to all Members beforehand. The cost will be covered by your annual membership subscription. Vistors are welcome to join for a small fee of £5 – they should contact Wendy Allan at
