Morning visit to the Russell-Cotes Art Gallery and Museum dramatically situated on the East Cliff at Bournemouth overlooking the sea. This exotic villa was bought by Merton Russell-Cotes for his wife in 1901and they filled it with beautiful objects from their travels across the world as well as a remarkable collection of British Art. We will have a guided tour through the gallery and museum.
At lunchtime we will transfer to nearby Compton Acres in Poole where there are several cafés for light lunch and refreshments. This is a 10 acre privately owned garden founded in 1920 by a wealthy margarine manufacturer, Thomas William Simpson. There is a magnificent collection of trees, shrubs and herbaceous plants across a series of themed garden areas.
