Richard Farmer’s interest in Japan began with a passion for Zen Buddhism – especially in relation to history, art and architecture. He studied Asian religion at the School of Oriental and African Studies in London, travelled to Japan and spent five years teaching English in Kanzanawa, also visiting many temples, attending art exhibitions and of course practising zaizen meditation. He henlived in Kyoto for six years before moving to his present home in nearby Osaka. Richard has also worked as a chef at an okonomiyaki restaurant in London.
