Virtual Tour – Basilica of St Peter’s, Rome – Thursday 25th March at 11am

This will be a live tour shown on line in the company of members from TAS Alton and TAS New Milton. It will be led by Rome Guide Stuart Harvey. The tour will start at 11am and last about an hour and a half.

Entering from St Peter’s Square, where the Pope gives the blessing at noon on Sundays, we will enter the Great Basilica of St Peter’s, built over the tomb of the Apostle Peter. Among the wonders to be found are the exquisite Pietà carved by Michelangelo, and the Baroque splendour of Bernini’s altar canopy. The huge dome designed by Michelangelo crowns this monumental basilica.
