The childhood home of Anne Boleyn, Hever Castle dates back to the 13C. Panelled rooms house fine furniture, tapestries and antiques as well as one of the best collections of Tudor portraits after the National Gallery. The period between the Wars of the Roses and the Reformation is depicted through its art collection displayed in the Long Gallery. William Waldorf Astor used his fortune to restore the Castle and grounds in the 20C. Covering 125 acres the grounds include magnificent award winning gardens, a 38 acre lake and many cascades, grottoes and fountains as well as a quintessential English walled rose garden.
We will have a private guided tour of the Castle in the morning and thereafter will be free to explore the extensive gardens during the afternoon.
There is a café for lunch and refreshments, or if the weather is fine bring a picnic lunch to eat in the grounds.
Accessibility – stairs in the house, no lifts and walking in the grounds.
Ticket prices will be £49 per person which includes return transport from Grayshott, private tour of the Castle and entry to the grounds.
Members’ partners and friends will also be welcome.
