Visit – David Hockney – A Year in Normandie and Some Other Thoughts about Painting – Tuesday 16 June 2026

David Hockney

We are delighted to announce a visit to the Serpentine Gallery to see David Hockney’s acclaimed exhibition A Year in Normandie and Some Other Thoughts about Painting.

One of the most influential artists of our time, Hockney invites us to slow down and find beauty in the everyday. Created especially for this exhibition, his new works continue his lifelong exploration of colour, perception, and the joy of looking. The centrepiece is the spectacular ninety-metre frieze  ‘A Year in Normandie’, inspired by the Bayeux Tapestry and shown in London for the first time.

In the afternoon, members may choose to explore the gardens, the nearby museums, or simply relax and reflect on Hockney’s extraordinary celebration of art and life.
